Winter storage

for your race/living trailer

We offer you a covered parking area equipped with the best safety standards, with our team’s support and complete service. Here you can set up your CMC Race Trailer or your Living Trailer during non-use periods and have it undergo the necessary assistance and maintenance operations with complete peace of mind.

No one knows your vehicle better than who built it. Trust our experts to increase the life of your CMC Motorhome and maximize its efficiency and durability over time.

winter storage

We have 1,000 sqm of covered and heated space where your trailer can be protected from rain and snow and 2,200 sqm of outdoor space with all the connections.

The first thing to do is to thoroughly wash the exterior bodywork and the underbody, brushing well. This operation becomes particularly urgent if the last trip was made in late autumn, with the presence of salt on the road.

It is also important to adequately lubricate all the gaskets.

Check the roof: it must be intact, linear, and have no cracks or signs of oxidation.

When temperatures drop, the air pressure in the vehicle’s suspension can decrease as well. The heart of the air suspension, the air compressor, does not like the cold. It works harder and this can lead to a malfunction.

In addition, moisture in the air can freeze in the suspension system, blocking valves and air lines as if the arteries of the suspension were clogged up.

To avoid these consequences, it is better to leave the trailer in a closed, slightly heated and moisture-free environment.

During winter it would be favorable to be able to maintain an electricity supply in order to keep the heating on at a low temperature.

Proper winterization procedures of plumbing systems will normally be all that is necessary to prevent the damage caused by freezing. Freezing damage can harm any component of the system, including the water tanks, toilet, pump and all piping. Local climates vary and winter maintenance needs may be affected.

Before winter storage, the water system should be completely drained, as water expands when it freezes, causing damage. Even the best water pumps can be damaged by freezing, and seals are vulnerable because they can only handle a certain amount of pressure.

Here is the procedure we recommend following:

  • Open all the taps and make sure that the hot and cold water valves of all the taps are open.
  • Open the water drain valves
  • Completely empty all the water tanks (fresh water, black water, waste water)
  • Connect a compressor to the water inlet valve and blow air into it at a pressure of 2 bar for a few minutes.

Cold weather not only affects the immediate performance of batteries, but can also contribute to a reduction in their life in the long term. Constant exposure to very low temperatures can speed up the internal degradation processes of batteries, reducing their overall efficiency over time.

Tips for optimizing batteries in winter

If we want to ensure a longer life for our batteries, here are some tips you never have to forget:

  1. Storage at moderate temperatures: when possible, remove the batteries and store them in environments with moderate temperatures to preserve their charge.
  2. Warming up before use: before using battery-powered devices or vehicles in cold environments, allow them to slightly warm up to optimize performance.
  3. Preventive maintenance: make sure to carry out regular maintenance on the batteries, especially in winter, to ensure a long life and optimal performance.

It is important to take advantage of those periods when the caravan is not being used to also oil and sand the wooden floors, both inside and outside.
